I recommend having siblings, if you can manage it. They are the sole surviving speakers of the endangered language of your childhood.

That sounds a little Inspirational Quote but I mean it quite literally: they can speak the first weird, silly, heartbreaking years of your life, having experienced it also as children, and no one else can.

  1. Truth. Though this can be confusing when sibling testimonies vary widely--- I have three siblings, and one remembers the past in a much darker, more dangerous light than the rest of us. I'm never sure if she's making things sound worse than they were, or if her life WAS miles worse than mine. There are too few experts on our childhood to reach a concensus.

  2. You should cross stitch that business.
