On the Mariana Trench

"In 1945, our boat was stopped outside of Guam at the Mariana Trench and a couple of the guys decided to hop out to say they'd swum it. So I figured I might as well. The ocean felt warm as bathwater but I remembered pretty quickly I couldn't swim worth a damn so I got right back on the boat."

Grandpa and I were able to sort out this business of swimming the trench over the weekend.
